Re: Have you ever lived in your car?

No and if I had a friend or family member who was living in their car, I would invite them to live with us so they could get back on their feet... No one should have to live in their car..no one.

I did one summer in my teens when I went on tour with the Grateful Dead. I was 17 and it was a van with about 6 of my friends.

Seriously? I would love to hear those Grateful Dead stories!

PS. I never lived in a car (thank God).

Re: Have you ever lived in your car?

I have not, but a good friend from high school did back in the early 80's. Single mom with 2 children, and a government job. She had a great babysitter, who kept the kids from early Monday morning until Friday evening. My friend picked the kids up after work on Friday, and kept them with her all weekend. They spent their time in a laundry mat, malls, and a travel plaza on the interstate, where she would park the car and they would sleep. My friend lived like this for about 6 months, until the babysitter had a family situation where she was no longer able to keep the kids at night. My friend finally gave up her job and came back home to this area, where she had parents and siblings to help her. It was a very sad situation that no one knew about until it was over. My friend died from lung cancer nearly 5 years ago.

I have counselled many children whose families have lived in their car. It is a horrible situation.

I think Walmart allows anyone who wants to park in their lots. The stores are open 24/7 and it's relatively safe.

I do not think this is true everywhere. Recently I read about a shooting in a Walmart parking lot in Arizona.
