In answer to the question, yes close friends and family members often have clothing items like mine. Sometimes we wear them to the same event, and just laugh about it.
I would feel awkward if a stranger wore the same clothing as me, to an event. I thought about this when I shopped for my 40th high school reunion, and bought my dress at a small boutique. I didn't feel like this was the right time to buy a dress at Macy's!

@september I have identical twin nieces who were always dressed the same and given the exact same gifts.I think it was bad because they got really upset if one did better at something than the other.I think they thought that they should be equal in everything or something was wrong.

Many times.
I will just recount the weirdest /worst times.
weird: In high school I went shopping and when I got to school my best friend had on the same blue trench coat.
When we took our coats off we had the same outfit on too!
worst: There was a really loud woman on the bus laughing and joking wearing a Ronald McDonald looking type wig and make up.
I got on the bus and we had the same 2 pc dress on!
I almost got off the bus!
Everybody noticed because it was bright red and yellow lol
We looked like mustard and ketchup!

Yes. I was wearing the same blouse another lady was at a funeral. She was old enough to be my mother, and looked lovely. We hugged, I just was hoping I looked half as good as she did

Yes, several times ranging from a prom to work to parties to weddings. To me it was not a big deal.

years ago my best friend and i bought the same outfits to wear out. the funny thing was everyone mistook her for me. i'm 5'8 and she's 5'2. go figure!
may i add...it wouldn't bother me at all if someone had on the same as me. it would make me laugh.

Yes, after carefully selecting a wonderful spring dress for a favorite niece's wedding, lo and behold there was another one dressed just like me LOL. I did try not to mingle too close to her. Anyway, I survived.

I was recently at a wedding where the Mother of the Bride had the same dress on as the Grandmother of the Groom. Very noticeable because they both were escorted down the aisle with an usher. The Grandmother of the Groom did take off the jacket so she looked a little different but it was obvious it was the same outfit. The Mother of the Bride laughed it off and didn't let it ruin the day. I took my daughter to her friend's bat mitzvah. When she got there and greeted her friend, we saw they were wearing the same dress! My daughter was wearing a nice cardigan, that she kept on for the rest of the night. Good for her, since they were in a lot of the same photos.

At a wedding another woman had on the exact dress I did, but it was black and kind of plain so I don't think anyone else would have even noticed.
This past summer I went to a party and someone had on the exact dress, and it was very noticeable. I saw her looking me up and down, and I just smiled at her. She didn't smile back :-)
