Have a feeling I'll still be home

[ Edited ]

Have not heard anything officially, but I'm almost certain, there will be no summer semester on campus.  At least the first half of summer anyway.  So I'll still be home working.  I've gotten more used to it, but I still hate it.  My brother (well....he almost lost his job) when they told him to go work at home.  They just handed him a computer and told what to do.  I guess you don't argue with the job situation the way it is now.  My husband, also stuck at home working. He hates it too. It's not as great as it sounds.  You feel like you will never get to go outside.  Stuck in a tunnel.

My DH has been in construction his whole life. He is so used to being nonstop busy. Being home is driving him crazy. I make sure he has a honey do list daily. What a game changer for all of you having to now work from home. Lets hope this shall pass safely and quickly. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Re: Have a feeling I'll still be home

Happy to still have a check coming in. I can do most tasks at home.

No commute, can reach for a hot coffee when I need one. Clients are far kinder and more understanding. No co workers waiting for me to come in and present me with daily drama at 7am.

I'm in heaven.

@songbird I feel pretty much the same as you. I've been teleworking since March 16 and have a feeling it will be another month at least. In DC where I live the stay at home order is through May 16, but we're nowhere near peak yet. Our case numbers are still climbing. Working from home is okay but not as efficient as from my office. Our office group has begun having meetings to talk about what work will be like once we return. It's conjecture but still somewhat helpful. We can air concerns and anxieties and it's nice to see people who "normally" squabble be supportive of one another. That's a plus.

I worked at home for 6 years, retired last year. I loved it. But it suited my personality, which is an introvert with ADD. Couldn't believe how much more work I got done without all the distractions of coworkers and other interuptions. I also got more done at home because I didn't have the commute.

My brother and husband are federal workers.  Working from home stated abut 10 years ago.  At first it was twice a week.  Then expanded to three times.  With the virus, its'5 days a week.  Plus you have to complete reports (to jive with your computer)  They give you a separate computer.  Only office work is permitted on that machine. I still work on my own computer.  That's because I work through a module put on my computer.  I miss the campus.  It's a great place to work.

@godi  We still have a lot of construction going on here in the N.Y. suburbs. I see the cement trucks passing every day.

@songbird

I really miss my office but I feel safer working from home right now.

The COVID-19 numbers are still rising here and the “ready to start reopening Florida” predicted date here is the middle of June at the earliest. Every time I have checked they add a few days on. I’m concerned I’ll be asked to go back to the office before it is safe to do so.
