Have You Ever Watched Something

Have you ever watched something, hated it, and think, well that was a waste of my time? I pretty much never give up on a show or movie, I watch til the bitter end. I guess it's because I feel I have already invested my time in it, and I keep thinking I have to give it a chance, it's going to get better. Two shows come to mind that I watched recently on HBO, The Third Day and The Vow. I especially didn't like The Vow, I thought it was boring. The finale was Sunday, at the end it said volume two will be back in 2021, it will be back without me!

Re: Have You Ever Watched Something

I know within watching for 15-20 minutes if I like a show/movie or not, if not I change the channel and look for something else.

I'm getting old, I don't have that much time left to waste, LOL!

Re: Have You Ever Watched Something

I saw Chris Angel in person in Las Vegas.  The tickets weren't cheap.

It was so bad, my DH and I walked out....as did quite a few people.  I would rather waste my money than my time.

In China, we had reservations to see a Chinese opera.  Everyone in our group  (13) went.  I was the only person to stay to the end.  There was a lot of off key sounding high pitched "singing"certainty not what Americans are used to and I don't understand Mandarin, but I really enjoyed it once I was there for a while.  I could understand the story by their actions. It was something new and I feel culturally enlightened.

I know within 30 minutes if something is worth watching or not.  If it isn't, I click it off without a second thought.  Even if I paid to rent it.  I watch TV for entertainment and relaxation; if I don't like something or worse if it irritates me, there's no entertainment value.

Re: Have You Ever Watched Something

Lately there hasn't been much of anything good to watch on TV.  So I end up watching stuff I never thought I'd watch before and I watch it until the end for lack of better things to watch. Yup...hard earned money spent on shows I don't even care to see. Pandemic pastimes.

Yes....just last night. Roger Ebert even gave it a thumbs up. I won't stick with a movie if I really don't like it.

Re: Have You Ever Watched Something

I'm pretty much like you, I will watch a show to the very end. There have been movies that I really hated but yet I continued watching.  I'm not sure why.

What's worst for me than giving up on a TV movie is going to the theatre and sitting through a movie that I dislike.  I guess I feel that I already spent the money and it seems wasteful to walk out.   I remember going to see the movie "Seven" and it was so dark and disturbing but I suffered through till the end.

I did break my rule the other week and turned off a Hallmark movie that was so dull and boring that even I couldn't make it through till the end.

Yes! Most recently, The Morning Show on Apple TV. I watched the entire first season, hoping that it would improve and it was just horrible. They had a great cast of talented actors, and even they could not save it. It's quite honestly nothing more than a very badly retold, and barely disguised retelling of the Matt Lauer story.

Re: Have You Ever Watched Something

I tend to agree w/IG.

A tv series I give it 2-3 episodes to keep my interest.  If not, I'm out!

Movies, if I drift off w/in the first 30 minutes, I'm out!

At 70 yrs young I do not have time watching shows, series or movies I am not enjoying.  Sheesh!  I plan on living to at least 100+ yrs in order to watch all the series & movies in my Amazon Prime & Netfix "watchlist" as well as all the CDs I burned for the PBS series about all the "First Ladies."  Smiley Tongue

Re: Have You Ever Watched Something

I watch very little television anymore, I mostly read for my entertainment. Since I use my Kindle I usually get a free sample of the book to check it out. Even then , I sometimes get a clunker, and I abandon it without a backward glance. Life is short.
