My 66 yr old husband was carrying a roll of carpet up a staircase.

The electrician said "You're tougher than a boot with the heel knocked off" lol.  Indeed he is!

My husband was from Southern Arkansas.   They have some very folksy expressions in his and your area.  Never heard that one though

@monicakm  No never heard that one either...maybe "tough as nails" but not a boot!

I got one of those boot/nail husbands too.  He, at 69, cuts trees with a chain saw, waits for the stumps to dry, and splits them with a hand hatchet...no auto wood splitter for him!  His boot/nail wife stacks the wood ha!  We love that kind of work.  Keeps us lean, muscular and healthy.

Wow, good for you guys!  About 4 or 5 years ago we lost a nearly 40 year old Maple tree.  DH cut it down, strategically, cut it up with a chain saw, loaded it and I can't remember what he did with it.  I don't know how he keeps going with his physically strenuous job.  I would love to do more physical work but until or unless I get my back fixed, it won't happen.  That's one reason I'm SO grateful for my robot vac.  Even tho I have to move it around because of 4 levels in our single story ranch, it's been worth it.  When my floors are clean, I'm in a good place (g)
