Hate seeing horses used in crowds

It just upsets me so much to see them wading into crowds.  I know they are trained for this, but they seem such gentle souls.

It just makes my stomach churn.

Washington, DC, has a large mounted police force and I would see them out riding when I was working in town and running on my lunch hour.  Especially around the Lincoln Memorial (their stables were near by).

The officers would often stop for tourists and let them stroke the horse's nose.

I know it's a small thing, but...I wish these beautiful creatures were not used this way.

I agree.  It is yet another thing that hurts my heart.

I also hate to see horses used in a crowd.  I just said that to my husband and he agreed. That is Animal Cruelty.  That should be stopped.

I hate it, too.

I also can't stand seeing horses pulling carriages with tourists through places like Central Park, especially on hot days.  There is now a law they can't do it above a certain temperature (don't remember what that is) but humidity has to count too.

I had a conference in Sacramento , .Ca. and it was the first time I saw police on horses around the Capital and Rose Garden. The other night a woman was trampled by a horse. The horse actually seemed to try and step over her. Luckily she was not badly hurt.

That too.  Those poor horses often look dragged out.  It just drives me wild.

We have a large Amish community in my area and they travel by carriage on roads that are very busy.  I just grind my teeth.

In addition to being dangerous, their poor horses often look thin and bedraggled.  I've often thought they don't take very good care of them to begin with.  They also use large draft horses in the field....Another thing I hate seeing.

Yes, I know horses were always used this way, but...if I ruled the world, they would only exist as beautiful animals.  Cat Happy

How about the K-9 patrols?  They were using them around the White House Sunday night.  In my area, the officers ride big, heavy draft horses.  People pretty much move out if their way.

The Amish that run puppy mills don't treat dogs very well either. 😥
