Re: Has it been mentioned yet? DST

I am in the Valley of the Sun and no one I know, or have known, wants DST. It was tried for the first time after World War II, in 1967, and the State Legislature rejected it in 1968.

"Arizona Long Ago Decided It Has Lots of Daylight, Thanks." -- A Tucson Citizen article, April 26, 1968.

Many people wait until sundown for any outdoor activity as it is. But of course now we have so many transplants from places where people, such as you dear DST fans, seem to love it. But if the low temp in a 24 hr cycle is 90-95 degrees, the only thing we have going for us in the evening is darkness.

Bless your hearts :heart::heart::heart::heart::heart:

I'm in the East and I prefer standard time.  I hate getting up in the dark and I rarely have a reason to be out at 9 pm.  Also, it's more dangerous for the school kids getting onto busses in the dark.

It doesn't matter what time school starts. Most parents drive their kids to school anyway. As for businesses it wouldn't matter. We drive home in the dark so what's the difference?

I'm in the mortheast so I would prefer DST all year. Especially in the winter cold.

Agree!  I like it being lighter at night.  If we were to stay on CST it would be light here at 4 am!!

Not good for sleeping.

Not looking forward to it. I especially don't like it when it's still light outside at 9pm in the summer.

I can't wait for DST! I hate when it's dark at 5:30 pm.

Love having so much evening time when it's still daylight and I can spend time outside with my flowers.

@Kachina624    I wish California would do it.    My cable feed comes from there.

When THEY go to standard time....all my TV shows are on an hour later.    Ya know....prime time starting at 10pm....    When CA & AZ are on the "same clock".....it's a LOT more convenient for me.

I know this is a minor thing in the scheme of life....but I'm a crabby old lady (!!)  di

@Desertdi

We actually voted for it a few years back. Either 2018 or 2020, but it's not that simple.  There are some extra steps. I think it has to be approved through congress as well. (Sigh)
