Has anyone used their e tablet as a cell phone?

I have an asus transformer e tablet. One of the functions available is to use it as a cell phone - you , of course, have to buy a service like tracphone for it. I am wondering if that is something I would use often. I could take pictures - e mail them or text them to someone - I'm wondering if anyone else has bought this and if they have found they actually are using it. I am retired so I would definitely not need it for my job.
