Re: Has anyone used Ancestry dot com?

[ Edited ]

Yes, my husband goes on Ancestry every day and does research on his family. Hes back to before Jesus (just kidding but hes been tracing heritage for 2 years and has books of info!). He also goes on find a grave and he takes pics of graves of his very distant family and (other peoples too) and posts it online. He found out a lot of interesting things (which are too numerous to type). But one thing is his ancestors lived on this land our house is built on and he didn't know that until he researched because he isn't even from this area to begin with.

My history is also traced back far on my Moms side and I am related to 2 famous people from back in the day, one being a President from way back when. Lastly on my dads side we got nowhere because it stops in Italy with my great grandparents and everyone is dead now (as in my parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles), so I had wished I asked more when they were alive but sadly I didn't.

Shorty2U, I've read lots of folks stories about their ancestry research.  You and your husband living in a house on land where ancestors lived in the past and not being from that area is amazing. He must have been drawn there.  All roads lead home!

Re: Has anyone used Ancestry dot com?

My grandfather on my Mom's side and both grandparents on Dad's side were immigrants (my grandmother was pregnant with my Dad and his twin brother when she came here). On my maternal grandmother's side they go back to before the revolutionary war. Anyway, I did not want to pay to trace records all over Europe so most of my family tree stops at Ellis Island, except my one grams family.
