Has anyone traveled to Sicily?

We are considering a trip to Sicily next summer and my niece, who is currently living in Morocco is seeing about renting a place. I would love to have a place on or near the water, but that remains to be seen.

My grandmother was born in Sicily, and traveled there a few times, but she is gone now.

Any thoughts are suggestions are appreciated.
