i believe this was filmed 2 years ago on her reality show prior to going into surgery (had no idea she had a reality show or what kind of surgery it was). She is talking about dying ![]()

Several networks showed this on TV yesterday & today on KATHIE LEE & HODA. Hope that it helped Melissa make her decision re: removing her mother from life support.

I remember that scene. Joan was having surgery to tighten up the skin under her chin. Melissa was begging her not to have any more surgery, but Joan said she had to because her appearance was part of her business.
This is why Joan was makeup-free, as she was having the surgery in a little while. This was part of their conversation before the surgery. It made me cry then, and it makes me cry now.

Hi, thanks for explaining. It made me cry, too. Melissa looked so concerned for her Mom. So tragic.

Tavis Smiley did a two-part interview with her a couple of months ago, in which Joan said she wanted no extraordinary measures taken ... no breathing tubes, a DNR, etc.

Yeah, SoX, she said if she couldn't do 90 min of standup, don't resuscitate her! (Her atty tried to get it down to 60 min. w/an opening act!)

Yes, I saw that scene on the reality show. I loved that show. It brought tears to my eyes. Melissa begged her not to have that last plastic surgery, but Joan was determined. It was the two of them all these years, and then Cooper of course. I can't even imagine the void that will be in Melissa and Cooper's life. That scene was so touching when Joan said her life was fantastic, a great ride and then what she said about having Melissa as a daughter was so poignant.
If it wasn't for QVC, I would have just said, oh well another great comedian died. After watching all her shows on QVC and her reality show, I really got to like her and I can't imagine a show in the future on QVC with her clothes and jewelry without her. I just can't.
