Hi Yorkie. The movie really didn't mention it. Except for 1 scene in the raft, where he prays to God to save him, says he'll dedicate his life to God. The closing scene had a slide about Louis making good on his promise to serve God (after recovering from PTSD), and about forgiveness.

We saw the movie last week. I have not read the book yet, and I imagine it would be better as they so often are. And, I usually need some aspect of women in a book/movie of which this had none (other than his mother) to hold my interest. Disclaimer: I can have the attention span of a 3-year old in a movie theatre.
But overall we felt it was a good movie and it really sparked a conversation surrounding the bravery of young men and women who have served this country to ensure our freedom. We are forever grateful.
