I had this happen to me earlier today for the 1st time in my life. I didn't see it coming or expect it at all. I was at a new dentist office with my son....he was having a root canal and filling done....after it was over I went back and (1st time meeting the dental assistant) the assistant said that her middle name was blank (my 1st name) and how she hates that name (with a big smile on her face) there was a long pause like she was waiting for me to agree with her. It was very uncomfortable....I am not quick with come backs so I said nothing....then she says my husband thinks it's funny and calls me blank (a shorten type verision of the name) so I said "well that's nice". It was the strangest thing I have experienced.

I am not saying I think my name is the best but it's not a hard to pronouce name...or a body part name or a name that's common...I rarely meet another person my name...except my cousin...she's younger and when she was born her Mom (my aunt) said she named her after me cause she thought I was so pretty and sweet and she wanted her daughter to have that same name. At the time I didn't react well....but said nothing....I was like 5! But I was being teased by boys at school about my name....they would sing a song that had it in it...and I didn't like boys yet so LOL!

Anyway....if you've ever had that happen share your story and what was your come back? I wish I was quick witted.
