Too much darkness for me in a series though I really do enjoy movies here and there on Salem. Some of you may enjoy a trip directly to Salem. Mass.if you are interested in learning the true historical facts about this awful time in our history.

Thanks for mentioning the show, my DD told me about it and I want to tune in but didn't know the channel before.

WGN is a local Chicago tv station that's been around since I was a kid. I grew up watching WGN. The Chicago Tribune owns this station. The station went nationwide when cable tv first became popular.

We have Direct TV and when I was s sick I realized not much was offered. We canceled a whole bunch of stuff including WGN. I have seen previews and I think it looks pretty awful.

I watched last night's episode, but didn't see the first (DH filled me in on the first). It was dark to say the least....I am sure I'll watch it....I didn't think the women's outfits were that "puritanesque"....DH didn't mind.....

I don't think it's anything like Sleepy Hollow. That show is kind of campy and I wouldn't be embarrassed watching it with family members. Salem is dark, gratuitious s-e-x (the episode with Cotton and the hooker was so unnecessary) and the violence is pretty gruesome. I think after that I'll take a pass.

Oh and also the fact that in the 1600's the Puritan were British immigrants yet only Mary Sibley has the British accent? At least they should have made it more authentic.

I agree. Watched the first episode, then tuned in Sunday night, but watched only half of the episode. Am done with it.

.....That Mary was the only one with the accent bothered me too.....maybe it will be too cornball to watch...
