Has anyone been to Old Lyme, CT?

Or the surrounding areas. I'll be going for the first time on Sunday. TIA

Gillette's Castle is a nice place to visit. Should be beautiful up there this time of year. Enjoy!

I live in CT.  The area you are going to is beautiful.  I was going to suggest Gillette Castle as well but unfortunately the castle is closed for the season.  The grounds are open but the real draw is the castle.  If you like lobster -- there are many good places in the area.  One of our favorites is Abbott's Lobster in the Rough in Niantic.  It is only open this coming weekend and the following weekend before it closes for the season.  The Goodspeed Opera House is a wonderful venue to see a show.  You can google it.  Beautiful setting and numerous Broadway shows -- including Annie -- premiered there.  The Drowsy Chaperone is the current show.  Even if you don't see a show there -- I think you would enjoy a drive by.  There is a restaurant next door called The Gelston House.  Not our favorite in terms of the food but a beautiful setting to have lunch outside if it's a warm enough day.  Lots of good seafood restaurants in all of the towns surrounding Old Lyme.  Mystic Seaport is about 25 minutes away.  There is a lot to do on the CT shore.  Just depends on your interests.

I live in CT about a half hour away from Old Lyme. If you enjoy being outside, the Niantic Boardwalk is a great way to spend some time. It runs alongside Long Island Sound and it's absolutely beautiful!

That area of CT is beautiful. Another suggestion would be The Essex Steam Train and Riverboat. The train runs a lovely dinner ride on Saturday and Sunday.

You could take a ride to Mohegan Sun Casino.

Great suggestion! Or Foxwoods. They are fairly close.

If you go, be careful!  Lyme Disease was first recognized there in 1975.

I am from the other side of the state.  We used to take a ride over that way to Westbrook.  Lots of outlets.
