It may have been a gift from someone.  I have had the rare occasion where I sent someone a gift and they left off who sent it.  Thankfully, the recipient knew, but still.

It did happen to me a few years ago - I got a free book from Amazon.  It was because I buy Kindle books.  I forget how I figured it out - I may have called them.

If you don't like the book, donate it.

I have never, EVER received an invoice OR any kind of receipt w/ Amazon purchases.

It sounds nice, but I don't think the Police are going to doing anything or care that someone received a book they didn't order, esp. under $5???

They have bigger worries I would think.

I received a gift meant for someone down the street from me.  The mailing label had her name, but my address.  Customer Service was no help and simply told me to keep it.  I asked on Nextdoor and someone gave me her address and I took it down to her.  She had an infant and mentioned it probably came from her brother, so I'm guessing it was a baby gift.  I'd really hate if her brother thought it was delivered and she didn't know to tell Amazon or her brother she didn't receive it.  She never would've received her gift.
