The author of this article thinks some older Americans, while trying to remain current by using Facebook and other social media, are behaving immaturely. 62% of people 65 and over use Facebook (more than l thought), but a much smaller percentage use Twitter and Instagram. I'm not in this demographic yet, but l don't use any of the above, lol.
Here's the link to an interesting article:

The NY Times is a twit.
Plenty of "twit" to go around on FB, not just seniors

Please let's not get into politics, so that this thread isn't 'poofed.'

Anyone using social media is more apt to act immaturely IMO. It's not just limited to one group.

Funny topic and the headline certainly caught my attention! As a 72 year old senior I certainly do not consider myself a "Twit" - whatever that means. But if the article considers the pictured people as "Twits" then NO, NO, NO! I am definitely not in that low class!!! LOL ! I do not tweet or use Instagram, but I do use Facebook. I have relatives and friends all over the country and in a couple of overseas countries. And it's a wonderful way to keep in touch with all those people. And I don't curse or act ridiculous. Because of my fitbit I walk a lot and think a lot during those walks and many times write my thoughts on facebook. But again, I am not a twit. So please, NY Times, only certiain people can be called "twits" and they come in all shapes, sizes and ages - not just seniors!!!! Thanks again for the laugh this Saturday morning before I got out for my daily walk - a lot to think about! Lol

Deleted my fb last month - there are so many ways for people to scam you, I'm just over social media.

I haven't noticed older people doing much of this. Of course, I hate FB, so I'm not on there much anymore.
The older people I know who are acting obnoxious online are the same ones who act obnoxious offline.
I have been thinking of deleting my FB account because of the obnoxious behavior of some...but most of the offenders are not seniors.

I go on Twitter and am astonished sometimes at the level of ignorance, anger, and downright stupidity.
On the other hand, there are many astute and interesting people there.
Just like the real world, albeit a "social media" world.
It is unfortunate to see people of a certain age behaving in ways that might be overlooked if they were 15.
