I have never missed a single sock, but I may have discovered where all of yours are hanging out.  Check that rubbery ring thing that's right there when you open the washing machine.  Check all around the ring; they love to hide in there.  Also, turn the drum with your hand to check if they are  stuck someplace.

@pattypeep  I also have a front loader, but isn't that round thing that goes around inside called a drum???

I am not good with technical terms.

I live in a high rise apartment and have my own washer and dryer, but for larger items (like heavy blankets), I am using one of the large washing machines (also front loaders) in the building and always find other people's  socks stuck there.

@CLEM  Dumb, dumb, dumb me !! I am thinking of the agitator that the top loaders have ! So sorry. I know that the agitators used to be the cause of lost socks among other things. Thank you for clearing the cobwebs out of the old noggin.

Yesterday I took a turtleneck sweater off a drying rack and found a complete pair of socks inside one of the sleeves. How that happened in the machine is beyond me. They're trying to hide....
