Has Anyone Been To A Sprouts Grocery Store?

They're popping up around here and one will be nearby soon.

I'm hoping someone can give a review of how you liked it... or not Smile

Hi Noel!

My sister shops at one in Arizona. They're like a natural/organic/gourmet type of food store. She loves it.

Re: Has Anyone Been To A Sprouts Grocery Store?

I go to one near my stepmom's house and found Hass avocados for a really nice price both small and large ones. By contrast, Whole Foods is selling Moro Bay avocados and calling them Haas avocados for a ridiculous price....$1.99 for one small one. I had never heard of Moro Bay avocados but did try one and they didn't taste like Hass to me. Sprouts soups are about a dollar less than Whole Foods.

Their meat department while more varied than a regular grocery store (and cheaper than Whole Foods) doesn't have antibiotic free game hens. They were shocked when I told them Whole Foods sells them....in fact all of Whole Foods meat, fish and poultry does not contain antibiotics and hormones. The meat man at Sprouts tried telling me that his Tyson game hens did not have antibiotics but there was not that information anywhere on their label and when I pointed that out, he retracted his statement. I won't buy Tyson brand of anything anyway and Whole Foods doesn't carry it.

But, for produce, gelato, soups....I choose Sprouts.

I LOVE mine. I eat organic but they have non organic also.....like it much better than Trader Joe's. They have really healthy stuff...and the prices are MUCH lower than whole foods. You can sign up online to get the flyer every week.

LOTS here in DFW. Beautiful display of produce....and the supplement area is very well represented. Prices are just a smidge lower than Whole Foods, but I have to travel further to get to it, so....6 of one kind, 1/2 dozen of another.

I shopped there before they changed their name (it used to be Henry's). I initially tried them years ago because union workers were picketing chain supermarkets and things had gotten pretty heated between shoppers and employees. Henry's was nonunion and I could shop without confrontation. I love it. I go to Sprouts or Jimbos. Both are great.

Thanks for the recommendation! Whole Foods is not easy to get to around here, the Sprouts would be much easier, so I'm glad to hear they're good.

Re: Has Anyone Been To A Sprouts Grocery Store?

We got a new one, our first, in our area a few months ago. We went during the grand opening and bought a few things, including strawberries. I opened them when we got home and they were moldy. It was too far to take them back. They're not close enough to us to go there regularly. I thought they were just ok. But then, I'm not a Trader Joe's or Whole Foods fan either.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

That's good news! I saw mention of an ad and double sales day(?), something like that.

I'll sign up now for the ad in order to get an idea of what's offered. They don't open here until January. Too bad, I was hoping to look at their holiday offerings.
