Re: *** Harry & Laura Slatkin ***

@Etoile308,

I'm so glad you mentioned about Hotel Portofino on Amazon. I hadn't heard of it. Watching it now and it's very good-luscious and mysterious in that good English way.Woman LOL

I didn't know they had an autistic child until I read this thread.  I wasn't trying to be mean.  I don't follow them on any social media.  I was just going on what he always seems to be doing and places they go while talking on air at QVC.  Their life appears to be very glamorous and fun.❤️

I'm so sorry if I offended anyone.❤️

All power to him! Not easy. I'm glad you mentioned that @Janey2.

I'm glad that he and his wife get to have some or a lot of lovely moments. He sounds like a loving father.

I didn't know they had a grandchild who's autistic.  I truly didn't mean to be offensive to anyone.  I was only commenting based on what I hear him talking about on QVC.
I'm really sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings.

I was at Portofino last October a Mediterranean cruise and it was breath taking.  They call it the Italian Rivera and the very wealthy stay there.  The cost to keep your yacht there is $3,000-5,000 a night.

@cheriere,

I didn't know either. And not knowing about their son, I had the same first reaction to their glamorous lifestyle. No offense at allSmiley Happy

@Janey2  The twin son of their daughter is autistic. I doubt they consider him imperfect.

Who said imperfect? You did!

@cheriere - Please don't worry about what you posted! I didn't know about their child and grandchild either. I imagine a lot of people didn't know, and you're right - they do seem to be an extremely wealthy jet setting couple!  Smiley Wink

I'm sure they worked hard to achieve what they have.  Good for them.  I've had a few Nest perfumes, and many candles.  Probably more candles when he was at BBW.

Re: *** Harry & Laura Slatkin ***

They may seem to have a perfect life & have been part of the NYC elite for a long time but their son, David who is a twin to their daughter has severe autism. He was in a special school in MA for most of his life & last heard, I think moved into a group home situation. The couple, after learning that their son had severe autism realized there was little help in NYC. They devoted time & research to learn about autism & tho their child had the best care, realized that most families could not afford the same care. They actually set up the first charter school for autism in Westchester, just outside NYC which is free & I think a second one in Manhattan. They give of their time and considerable funding to autism organizations & research so that other families affected by autism can gain access to care & information. Their son is non verbal & will never be able to live on his own. So, they deserve moments of happiness. Tho, Harry annoys me with his name dropping, at times, theyve worked hard for what they have & have helped many families dealing with autism.

Whenever I want to imagine being in the South of Italy, I spray on some Tom Ford Neroli Portofino.  The scent is just wonderfully exotic, and a bit spicy-sweet!

Of course, now I have discovered the Delizioso Desserts Limoncello Cake on QVC, I can order and take a bite, and instantly be in Amalfi! Scrumptious!

Harry and his wife have worked very diligently at their careers, and they should absolutely enjoy their vacation. Work hard, play hard!

@FancyPhillyshopper I agree !  I say good for them no one should begrudge others for living a good life .  They worked hard to have it and if traveling is what they enjoy then good for them !   They seem like really great people and parents as well .
