Sorry to hear this, tough diagnosis. I lost a dear dear friend to this.

Makes me sad thinking about it.

John's Hopkins is a good treatment center.

So sorry to hear this - the surgery is a very difficult one & this diagnosis has a poor prognosis.

Re: Harry Reid resting well after pancreatic cancer surgery

I was once told this, by a mother ,who had lost a daughter to cancer.. The quicker the better with this stuff. If it isn't in the cards for him to get well, may he go quickly, with as little pain as possible

Re: Harry Reid resting well after pancreatic cancer surgery

His doctors caught the problem early during a routine screening and his surgeons are confident that the surgery was a success and that the prognosis for his recovery is good.

That's interesting since it's rare for anyone to live more than 5 years after diagnoses with this and the vast majority die within a year or two. As far as routine screening, I'm not aware of it actually being beneficial for this specific cancer.

Unfortunaltely what they're doing is putting the best positive spin on it. It's very probable to be a less than good prognosis. From my experience and as you see by many replies on this thread.
