@smoochy

I was thinking about your situation today because I was surprised by how much you all are out of pocket.

Since kids' little league and other sports teams find sponsors, it's a shame there wasn't a sponsor for your group.

Did your group ever seek outside funding?

Hi @monicakm

Im outraged that the actual performers, like famous "Sweet Adelines" (Int'l), are required to "fork over" a totally unreasonable $60/mo Membership, *AND* pay for total performance accouterments, ex, costumes, makeup, plus Hotels/Travel/Food for each of these performances.

imho,  Their Mgt need to be professionally investigated, for activities ranging from possible poor, lazy (mis)Mgt, to possibly criminal mgt, activities.

Every expense of performances I've been in, or asked about when I attended, have been covered by:

Attendees/Donations/Sponsorships/Advertisers/Ticket Sales/Love Offerings;

Certainly NOT the performers themselves!

I'm sure it was sad for you to have to make that decision.  But you will have such wonderful memories.  You have a gift and so many people would love to have it.  Maybe you could join a church choir or start a group of singers who go to retirement homes, etc. and sing for them?  That way, you can still enjoy the experience and still sing.

Here is a synopsis of how it works

Sweet Adelines International was foun̈ded in 1945 or so, as the womens counterpart to the men's barbershop singing organization.

So SAI is our parent organization. Under that we are divided up into geographic Regions all over the world. Within each Region are chapters (choruses). For a chorus to perform as a representative of SAI, they must have passed the charter requirements  which include having at least 15 dues paying  members. And have been approved for sound quality.

Members pay monthly dues to their chapter chorus. The chorus pays an assessment to the Region and regional pays an assessment to the parent organization. There are regional chorus ànd quartet competitions every spring. The winners get to represent their regions at International Competition & Convention every fall. There are many educational retreats throughout the year, all over the country, with high level musical faculty. Many of whom will take appts for quartet coaching and personal vocal instruction.

The whole thing is kind of a Big Deal. 😉😄🎶
