Not all states observe this. It is a gesture of sweetness to others. It started out as businessmen buying a box of chocolates for orphaned children, and sort of took off from there

My husband and I always eat out ,and observe the day in a small way. It is nice just to have a day to give each other a hug. We don't always do a small gift..I like it better than Valentines Day

If you don't observe ,consider yourself hugged by me

Sweetest Day is real big in my hometown, Cleveland, but I haven't ever run into anyone here in NYC who has heard of it (unless they're from NE Ohio).

The first I've heard of this, and what a positive happening.

Living in the state of misery (Missouri) we would love to celebrate sweetest day -- JUST A LITTLE SATURDAY MORNING HUMOR. SUN IS SHINING, QUIT RAINING, IT'S FALL. I like my state.

@jeanlake......I'm from Missouri too.....St. Louis area. Sending a hug to you. Yes, the sun is out nice and bright, and fall is in the air. I too love living in Missouri.
