In general: I don't know for sure, but seems to me that there could be many military office (and other) jobs right here in the US. If a person isn't qualified for overseas work, then perhaps there are other positions here in the US. p.s. Are civilians able to work in military bases?

Some branches of the military are actually downsizing. The Navy is eliminating many grades that are redundant or non-essential. Ex-Navy (or Army, etc.) for example are highly preferred candidates for civilian military slots.

ASVAB scores, very competitive now, determine recruit placement; not only scores but education and record. Prior DUI or other infractions may disqualify the recruit. The bar for Air Force, Marines and Navy are higher than Army. Despite this many Navy ensigns end up going to Captains Mast. Zero tolerance for drinking - a great way to be discharged.

Of course as both GS employees and as contractors. But they'd still have to be qualified to be hired in the first place - stable job history, credit check, and in a lot of cases security clearances. Oh - and a profession/area of expertise.

Thanks for the military info. .... Now that I'm thinking about it, (and forgive me), could be that DS is bluffing. Hopefully not, though. I always try my best to not unnecessarily doubt folks. I've been wrong before....
