I, too, have friends and loved ones who celebrate/observe these days.  So, to them, and to all of you, all the best!

I'd just like to add that it is eminently sensible to have a new year begin at the changing of a season.  Some cultures observe the beginning of spring as a new year.  Just personally speaking, I like the idea of the beginning of the autumn season intertwined with the beginning of a year.
