We're having about 9 hrs and 5 min of daylight.  It doesn't look like a white Christmas for this area either. Shortest day of the year, so pretty soon, we'll be going the other way.

I think there's some event for each day of the year.  I don't know where they have that sort of a list.  LOL

@qualitygal  You absolutely nailed "going the other way". This is why I love the first day of winter. We do need to give it about two weeks or so to begin the minute by minute changes. I can wait a little longer.

Amen to "going the other way".  I am always so happy when the Solstice arrives because our days will start to get longer.  It may take a while to notice, but I know it's getting better instead of getting worse.

I love this day for a couple of reasons. It is my youngest granddaugter's birthday. Also every year when I was growing up my Dad always would say "this is the shortest day of the year and now every day little by little it will start to stay lighter longer." Just thinking of him saying that brings back happy memories.
