Thank you and I love reading your traditions.

I never heard the word kinklings and I don't know what a King cake is.

I do know of the pancake day and Fat Tuesday.

PS) I love crepes! :-) which I just had 3 years ago for the first time!

Oh, you have to try a King Cake. King Cakes are sooooo delicious! It's sold on Fat Tuesday. The best I would describe it as more of a pastry ring than an actual cake. It's baked in a ring form and it's always iced with bright gold, purple and green icing or sugared sprinkles in these colors. Each color represents something. Actually, David Venable had a trivia question this past Sunday on his show about what each color represents. I believe it was gold represents power, green is faith and purple represents justice.

Also, usually somewhere inside the cake hiding is a little plastic baby. The little plastic baby represents "the King" or baby Jesus. Tradition holds that if you are the one who finds the baby in your piece, you will have good luck. Some also follow the tradition that if you are the one to find the baby, then you have to buy next year's King Cake on Fat Tuesday for all to share.

I posted on the pancake thread about how interesting this is. I had no idea about all these traditions. I did know about the king cake. Thanks for enlightening me.
