I actually reuse plastic bags but can't get any. My pet peeve is allowing plastic diapers. That must be some pile! I washed mine and hung them on the line. How about all those cases of bottled water? Lots of hypocrisy there. I grew up with glass bottles.

@frenchie,

I reuse plastic bags too for bathroom. I know some counties have you pay for plastic bags at grocerie stores.

I'm just trying to think how to use something besides freezer/quart bags for things that you would dispose. I can see reusable cloth bags for snacks for kids, and outings but other things you wouldn't re-use, I'm trying to think of alternatives.

Maybe I'll try to find a good lettuce/vegetable/frozen fruit keeper-things like that.

I don't buy water. My mother washed and reused plastic food bags and tin foil!

My personal celebration for April 22 is to honor our 52nd Wedding Anniversary and instead of the rainy day we had then we have a beautiful cool sunny day today. Back then I don't recall knowing about Earth Day that was founded 2 years earlier.  I was busy doing "single girl stuff" like working and planning our wedding.  I have always loved and been  thrilled to see beautiful landscapes and marvel at what was created and hope that my memories of our driving vacations to different States will be there forever.

I was just thinking back about 1970 when the first Earth Day was celebrated and demonstrated. I was 15yo. In many ways not much has changed in the environment. It's probably worse now than ever. The air I breathed back in 1970 was less polluted than the air I breathe today. My water isn't any cleaner either.

I'm going to try to pick up trash when I see it and dispose of it in a container

As a life long environmentalist I look at Earth Day with respect.  While some strides have been made, so much more needs to be done to make this world a healthier place .  I hope the younger generations continue to fight for cleaner air, clean water, protection of land and making sure regulations are in place.  Happy Earth Day to all.
