The festival of lights starts today!!!!
It is celebrated across India by Hindus, Jains and Buddhists and is marked by the lighting of clay lamps and beating of drums and eating sweets. It is a celebration of so many things that I can't possibly list them all here. It seems like every religion celebrates their own thing at Diwali.
I'm going to the Indian store today to buy some Diwali sweets and then I'm going to find some glitter votive holders. DH is bringing three of the engineers he works with who are from India home tonight. The 5 of us are going to an Indian restaurant for dinner to celebrate the holiday.
For them it's like being away from home on Christmas Eve would be for most of us. I want to make a little gift bag for each of them. Not have them sitting in a hotel room near the office.
DH has been working with a number of Indian corporates over the last 5 years or so and since our trip to India this past February I'm always happy to enjoy anything related.
Bring on the da'al!!!!!
Have a great day all.
