Re: Happy B’Day Tom Jones 83

One thing that was really weird was, during one of his (newer) songs, he had a montage or collage of pictures flashing up.  I think 9 pictures came up on the big screen behind him, sort of in a tic tac toe style, all at once.  They only flashed for a few seconds and then a whole other set of pictures would show up.

I swore I saw Lisa Robertson in one of the *blocks* and thought, nah, can't be.

But the pictures kept repeating and by golly, yes it was!  Her picture flashed up about a dozen times.

She was much younger, probably when she first started on QVC.  It was actually her on set on QVC.  She was presenting something, they didn't show what exactly.  (no product and no item number)  She was smiling and talking.  They did have another shot of her on set, too.

I wonder if she knows (or QVC) that Tom Jones uses her image.  Anyone on facebook with her?

I was a toddler in the late 60s when his television variety show was on.  According to my parents I was mesmerized by him.  My mother was out taking her younger sister to dance class and my father wanted to get ready for a night out with the guys.  He used to sit me in front of the television to watch Tom and I never moved.

I remember his show.  He'd always take off his bowtie and toss it into the audiance during his last song!

@candys mine  I don't remember that, but do remember at the end of each show he said something to us in welsh (same thing every week).

Re: Happy B’Day Tom Jones 83

I've been a fan of Tom Jones since I was a teenager and watched his show every week. I saw him in person three times in Vegas and was lucky to get front row seats once.  He put on a great show and it was nice to see him up close and personal, even got his autograph, which I still have!

Happy Birthday Tom!

Lucky Charm,

I also saw Tom Jones a few weeks ago when he played here on Long Island NY and I noticed Lisa in the montage for one of his 'throwback' songs.

He was phenomenal as always, still has a great voice and his songs are legend and stand the test of time. I'm so glad I got to see him again (also saw him 2x at Westbury Music Fair many years ago). The man is 83 so who knows how much longer he will continue to tour.

By the way, the tickets were reselling at well over $500 each!

I paid around $150 and was so happy to get a seat. The show was sold out.

Happy Birthday Tom Jones!!!

I too saw him in person when the women in the audience would throw underwear on stage and he,d wipe his brow and throw it back. I heard him sing on one of the voices (the show) he still sounds really good.
