Re: Happy B’Day Tom Jones 83

[ Edited ]

Anybody that knows me, knows that I have been crazy in love with Tom Jones since he was on tv during the late 60s, early 70s..  I was still a teen but OM heavens to Betsy.... That voice, those moves and that handsome face and body brought feelings to me that I will never forget, lol.

In 1982 and again in 1984, Tom Jones came to Augusta, Georgia and I got front row seats both times.  (I knew someone who worked at the civic center where he performed....now called The James Brown Center).  Oh my....what a show.  I will never forget it.  I only wished I was brave enough to be one of the ones who ran on stage, but I wasn't.  Yes, panties were thrown but not mine, lol.

HSN had DVDs available about 10-12 years ago of all of his tv shows back in the 70s and I bought them.  I watch them even today.

Here is a youtube performance of my all time favorite song by Sir Tom Jones...."I'll Never Fall In Love Again".  Sing it, suga.

Oh, @kittykatkay ,   how exciting that you caught him in person!  "I'll Never Fall in Love Again" is possibly my all-time favorite of his repertoire too!  I will have to watch your version closely, and compare to my favorite, which is "quite young Tom".  But even back then, the control, the depth, emotion and sheer power of his voice, wow.

I've seen Tom a few times and he puts on a great show.  His voice is so strong it's a can't miss as you hear it on different commercials.  He was the first singer that I followed...buying many of his CDs.  I'm so happy he's still entertaining the young and me, the not so young.

Re: Happy B’Day Tom Jones 83

I'm late to the Tom Jones fan club.  I became a fan when watching him on youtube clips of The Voice UK. He and the other judges have some fabulous performances together.

Found the way he treated his wife, when he was younger, very disturbing and sad.

He just had his second hip replacement and indicated that's why he could not perform at King Charles coronation.

Re: Happy B’Day Tom Jones 83

I remember sitting on our living room shag carpet glued to the television every week watching him gyrate.  Those opened shirts shocked my grade school eyes.

With all the news lately nice to see one of our older celebrity men in the news for a birthday and not being part of a "birth."

Happy Birthday Tom.

Re: Happy B’Day Tom Jones 83

We just saw him almost 3 weeks ago in Atlantic City.  Voice is still really good.

Noticed how he walked on stage and off, kind of *toddled* which explains the hip replacement.  He leaned against a bar stool a lot during the show.  Seemed natural, I didn't think anything of it.

We were front row and he looked good, his face was up on a huge screen behind him and he definitely looks his age.  I actually think he looks better now than when he was younger.

I wasn't really into him when I was younger, (not my genre of music).  I'm kinda late to the game with him.  This is the 2nd time we saw him in 5 years.  Shooting for next year!

@Oznell , yes, I was so lucky to have known someone that could get me front row seats both times.  The best concerts I have ever seen were Tom Jones.  That voice still gives me goose bumps to this day, lol.

Both versions of his song are great.....the one you are showing was in the late 60s before his nose job, lol.  Either one are fantastic.  He just gets better with age.
