Oh Shaunac, I'm so sorry. I know exactly how you feel. We lost our 16 year old dog, Dudley, on October 13th. And, we lost our 18 year old cat, Daisy, on February 25th, and my heart aches terribly. I am having a hard time getting in bed at night, because she was always right there sleeping against my side.

As far as the OP's question, happiness for me is peace of mind. Unfortunately, that's dependent on so many factors.
