I just returned the auto refreshers from Harry slatkin.  I ordered them in

Christmas in july, and just opened them.  I returned them, because they had no fragrance, and there were only 5 of them, and there were to be s/6.   Anyway, the issue mainly was no fragrance.  I was going to give them as a gift along with something else, but I did not, since there was no fragrance.  I just requested a refund on this order.

Re: Hanging auto freshers

[ Edited ]

If you're a Costco member, @little missy, the other day they had cards with either 5 or 6 Yankee Candle hanging air fresheners at the warehouse.  I don't recall the price but remember thinking it wasn't bad.

You can't go wrong with Little Trees. They make all sorts of scents, something like 60 in all. Just be sure and follow the directions on how to unpackage them correctly. You don't want to completely remove the tree from the wrapper but only pull out enough of the tree to get fragrance. Otherwise it's overwhelming.

I like to use these little cannisters in the 'Desert Jasmine' scent, it's not overpowering and it seems to last a long time, I usually put it under the passenger seat, people who have riden with me have always complimented how nice my car smells..

I’ve always placed a couple dryer sheets under the front seats and change them every couple of weeks. Nice fresh subtle scent.

I have a similar small terra cotta cherub angel I put drops of essential oil on to use in the car.

I also have a lamp ring you can put essential oils on. It won't work with an led bulb since they don't get hot. Amazon has this one for $4.28.

I can't deal with the chemical air fresheners. They cause my eyes & nose to run plus most give me a headache.

@SilleeMee

I laughed when I saw your post as it reminded me of my commuter buses when I was working.

It was a long ride from suburban Maryland into Washington, DC, and almost every bus I took daily had these "little tree" air fresheners.

One driver had a freshener hanging over EVERY seat, so it was a lot of dangling trees. Cat LOL

That is only ONE reason I'm happy I am retired. Cat LOL

My DIL and grandson use Febreze car vent air clips - they smell good and not overpowering.

I grew up on those green air freshener trees so it's just "none" for me lol.

Did you know in some States it's illegal to have an air freshener on your car mirror.

I have heard about the Christmas Tree air freshener but I really didn't believe it when I heard it. Guess it's true.

AI Answer:

Yes, in many states, having a Christmas tree air freshener or any object hanging from your rearview mirror can be against the law, as it's often prohibited if it obstructs the driver's view, leading to potential traffic stops and tickets, though enforcement varies and some states specifically list these items as illegal, like Arizona, California, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Texas.
States with Specific Laws (or Strong Enforcement):
  • Arizona, California, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas: These states explicitly prohibit hanging items that obstruct the windshield, with penalties ranging from fines to citations, notes this AAA article and West Coast Trial Lawyers.
  • Virginia: Has a law against dangling objects, but officers can't pull you over solely for that reason; they need another valid reason first, according to this WANE 15 article.
