I kind of have a problem with this guy suddenly becoming a ""model.""

He's a criminal. There are so many people who are trying to make an honest buck and just trying to get ahead in this world.

this whole story reminds me of a sentence I was said to someone, whose background was similar, after he told me of his background and was shocked I wasn't alarmed and/or didn't walk away.........that sentence was............"I don't think that's who you are, I think it's what you had to become, but it's not who you are"..............I think the same may be said about this young man........no one knows how he grew up.........no one knows the circumstances in his life that may have led him to where he is at..........BUT.......he has an opportunity now, to make a HUGE difference in his life and his families life and I think that is fantastic...........I wish him much luck.......................................raven

Wow, I agree with you. People can change and they should be given the opportunity to do so.

In this country the criminal justice system is punitive without being rehabilitative. There are very few jobs available to criminals. This isn't the case in more progressive countries. They focus more on rehabilitation to reduce recidivism.

He's a good looking guy with interesting and unique look. People make mistakes and if he's paid for those mistakes and truly wants to turn his life around; he deserves an opportunity to do that. One of the reasons why so many criminals return to their law breaking ways is because when they get out, there's nothing out there for them. No jobs, no educational opportunites (convicted felons don't quality for student loans) and no support from the community at large. Everyone has to eat and keep a roof over their heads, even former prisoners. His crimes are probably no worse that Lindsay Lohan's.

Very true....and that goes for misdemeanors as well.....just not felonies.

My friend's son was convicted of a minor misdemeanor and it came up on background checks, which prevented him from getting a job.....a menial job at that.

He had to go back to court to appeal the conviction and the judge granted him some sort of order so that it won't show up anymore or be on his record. I forget what it is called.

This may come as a shock, but some criminals don't want to be rehabilitated.

you're right........some don't........but some do........shouldn't the ones that want that opportunity have it........especially when we look at the rate we are building prisons........it would be nice to have them become productive citizens able to make a good wage so they are not out there preying on society............................................raven
