I just "washed" my hands and timed it and yes, it takes 20 seconds to get down between every finger and to scrub each finger effectively.  At least 20 seconds. . .

@sidsmom Interesting article.  Thanks for posting.

@SoonerGlad you mentioned "between every finger" which I'm sure most people don't do.  Also focus on the fingertips.

Even before this I washed my hands twice through. The first time to remove overall dirt and germs and the second time to really get to the details.

ETA:  One REALLY important detail is to disinfect the hot and cold taps when you're finished washing because that's what "you" touch with your germy hands to turn on the taps on in the first place!

Wear a mask. Social distance. Be part of the solution - not part of the problem.

@Deree

If you click on the USA Today link (mentioned in the OP & below),

there is an interactive video showing exactly how to correctly wash.

Re: Hand-Washing: 20 Seconds⏱

 They used to say that during flu season you should wash your hands more often like the post says - and use soap and warm water and work up a lather and then sing happy birthday before rinsing - I've always remembered that (I don't sing out loud -but do sing it in my mind) - ha ha.
