Re: Ham, Turkey, Prime Rib, Lamb, Lobster, etc. etc....Tell Me About Your "Holiday Meal"!!

Everything sounds so good...I don't know yet. We're going out on Christmas Day, but I'll need to come up with a plan for Christmas Eve, and for a few weekend meals, when we'll have family here.

How about ham (Honeybaked?)or turkey for family? Feeds a lot of people or there's enough for leftovers. Or a large delivery from your favorite Chinese restaurant.

Re: Ham, Turkey, Prime Rib, Lamb, Lobster, etc. etc....Tell Me About Your "Holiday Meal"!!

Usually have HAM @ daughters. My grown children asked if I could make turkey this year.

(My husband will be helping with dinner b/c its hard for me w my bad back)

Menu for Christmas Eve DAY dinner w MY family - Turkey, PA Dutch potato filling, gravy, candied sweet potatoes, stuffing, corn, string beans, carrots, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls. Dessert = jello pie (by request from grandkids), and cheese cake (DD is bringing).

Christmas DAY dinner at DH's family is always unknown till we get there, but I HOPE its ham after having Christmas Eve day turkey dinner. But if not oh well.......

I like to have ham in small amounts...no one else in the family seems to like it at all.

I'm hoping to be able to make the trip to a great butcher shop on Tuesday...will just see what they have, and wing it!

Roasted turkey, baked ham, steamed shrimp with all the trimmings. I'm responsible for the dessert table and plan to make four delicious offerings.

I must be the only one who does not make a big meal for Christmas Day. There will be about 20 of us, several small children. Lots of presents and unwrapping! We have a crockpot full of meatballs, cheese tray, relish tray, chipped beef spread, crackers, hot cheese dip w/tostitos, and of course, home made Christmas cookies. This serves us just fine, I can't even imagine the cooking, dishes, etc., of a big meal. Just being together, relaxing, enjoying the day. Oh, then I will do it all over again for about 17 people on the weekend -same menu. Most of it is made ahead of time and I have time to be with family.

I can't imagine cooking a big meal for 20 people either. When we've had large family Christmas dinners it's always potluck, everyone brings a dish.
