I am surprised they are still around.

I buy most of my wrapping paper, cards and gift bags at our local Dollar Store, then shop else where for a nice gift. It just seems to be such a big waste of money on those things. My gifts always look pretty when presented. Haven't been in a Hallmark in years. Not even sure if we still have one.

I love Hallmark. Many of their cards are exquisite. I don't mind spending more for people I really treasure.

Nice sentiment. (:

There is still a Hallmark store at our mall but I don't even go in unless I'm with someone that wants to. The items they carry just don't appeal to me and I refuse to buy a card when I could spend the same amount for a small gift.

Since our choices are limited in our rural area, I do often buy gifts in Hallmark, but I never buy cards, wrap or bows there. I get all of those things at Walmart. I'm not surprised to hear that Hallmark is closing stores.

so true! I started writing a note to someone I would normally just send a card and enclosing a $5 Starbucks or $10 iTunes card.

Me, too. DS's birthday is Sunday and I drove 20 miles (RT) to a Hallmark store to get a card. Our store that was closer went out of business. I do look at the cards at the dollar stores, but can't seem to find any that I like.

I go to the Hallmark store once a year to buy collectible ornaments. I usually find some sale items and a few cards while I'm there, since I've made a special trip. I like to look, but do agree things are very expensive in the store.
