Re: Half-Staff Flags: 9/11 (Tues)

@LTT1@We had just moved to the USA and didn’t know anyone but that day people were out in the streets everywhere with flags and coffee and I was invited into some of their homes.They said they wanted to show love and support for the country and strength to carry on without fear of terror.

😰 What a delicate ~ heart wrenching ~ position to be in, @LTT1. Wanting to comfort your young students, while not being permitted to discuss the attacks and tragedies unfolding. Bless you for your every effort!

I know how hard it is for my granddaughter, who wasn’t born yet, to try to understand what happened and why it's imperative that the day be memorialized for each victim.

It's hard enough for we adults to try to comprehend.

@dex

What country did you move from? That is amazing that people were in the street comforting! That is good to know.

I ran across pictures on Pinterest that MUST be fake. I’ve never seen anything like it. Where have all the pictures been?

@WaJa61

My students in 2014 said that this was the defining event of their young lives...just as for some it is Vietnam or WWII.

Our DD was in college and called me (during school) to ask if I was ok and if I thought our area would be attacked next!

I hope your little one does not need to know much about this event. If she ever does, I wish you the strength and grace to be able to explain it. Do not know how I would explain this to our littles.

@LTT1 I had just moved from Canada and 911 occurred shortly after.I experienced the power of love for country and strength against fear from people I met and spent time with that day... a day where everyone came outside,waved flags and stood United, that nothing in my life could have prepared me for.

Re: Half-Staff Flags: 9/11 (Tues)

My sports radio guys (The Ticket 1310am..see avatar)

were just reminiscing about the happens of that morning.

I was driving to work when they commented (same hosts as today)

what they were seeing on the studio TVs.  When I got to work,

our conf room & break room TV were already turned on...

everyone piled in just watching.

For about a week, all the radio hosts from 6am-7pm talked

about the actual event & fallout. I remember one of the

morning hosts crying on air. It was at that time I fell in love

with these radio guys...they were talking & saying the things

we all were thinking. They became family.

They brought up a point today.

17 yrs later...there are kids graduating from high school & in reality,

young adults graduating college who have no recollection of the event.

So hard to believe...seemed like yesterday.

”This is the commercial spot Budweiser produced after 9/11. They only aired it once so as not to benefit financially from it - they just wanted to acknowledge the tragic event. I never saw this commercial until now.... it is quite moving. Talk about a picture being worth a thousand words.”

Re: Half-Staff Flags: 9/11 (Tues)

@sidsmom  was the content of those two accidental transmissions ever revealed?

 Sorry if this has already been asked and answered within this thread. I am on my way out to the store and then back home to do more storm prep, so I haven’t read the entire thread.

@esmerelda

Yes. It’s part of public record. Basically he was instructing people not to move. For more content, just Google.
