Half-Staff Flags: 5/27 (until noon only)

[ Edited ]

In observance of Memorial Day (5/27), which commemorates

the men and women who died while in the military service,

a President's Proclamation has been made to lower all American flags

to half staff from sunrise until NOON only, returning to full staff

after 12:00pm.

In addition, 5/27 is also designated as a

Day of Prayer for Permanent Peace

11:00am (local time):  Time when people might unite in prayer.

3:00pm (local time):  Time for all Americans to observe,

in their own way, the National Moment of Remembrance.

Thank you.  I always put the flag up on Memorial Day and other patriotic holidays.  However, I won't be observing the "half-staff" order because I can't do that with my flag.

Same here!

I bought the flag and pole here from Q last yr. and didn't realize it couldn't go to half staff.

Of course, installed the TALL pole b4 I figured it out!  Rats!

I do remove it totally on these days as that is what I read protocol is.  You can also get a black 'Mourning' scarf to drape...a friend did and 2 blew away b4 she gave up.

Thanks again for posting!!!

If one has a permanent mount for their American Flag display,

to observe a half-staff Proclamation, a suggestion would be a

black mourning ribbon tied to the top. It’s not ‘right’ or ‘wrong’

but just an option for the permanent mount flags.
