Re: Half-Staff Flags: 5/15, Sunday only

May 15 has been National Peace Officers Memorial Day, and the week containing May 15 has been National Police Week, since President John F. Kennedy signed Public Law 87-726 on October 1, 1962.

Re: Half-Staff Flags: 5/15, Sunday only

Can't believe how disrespectful people are.

Today is Sunday, 5/22.

I've seen 3 apartment complexes, a fitness center and a bank

with their American flags still at half-staff from 5/15...a full seven days

when they should be returned to Full Staff.

I wish flag etiquette was taught in schools, but it's clearly

the middle-aged adults that still don't get it.

In this case, what goes down must come back up.

It's not rocket science.

Have you you seen flags still at half staff in your neighborhood?

@sidsmom....I have total respect for law enforcement, having worked in that field myself. I can see that you are upset about flags in your neighborhood and feel that people are disrespectful. I feel disrespected and insulted that I was labeled as having "victim mentality" on another thread discussing abuse growing up. Smiley Sad

I promise to remind myself every day that I am strong, courageous, and resilient.

A very gracious, restrained post, (((@catwhisperer))), and I support you completely.Heart     As for this thread, all the flags in our area were at half-staff when appropriate, and then returned to full staff.

Yes, I do, @catwhisperer.   I saw the subsequent posts after the thread had dropped away from being active...  so I decided to contain myself and just say a prayer and not move it up again.   The thread, overwhelmingly, was sensitive, kind, heartbreaking but heartwarming in the understanding and support offered to you and to others.   In the end, perhaps that's what matters the most.Heart

@dooBdoo....thank you so much. I have a big mouth and can go off, but I didn't say anything. It was very hurtful, but I am guilty of saying hurtful things to others, so decided to let it go. Thank you so much for being so kind to me and having my back. (((Hugs))).
