My husband and I are changing to someone new to cut our hair, after 27 years. We had kind of a unique situation with that for all those years so I have a question about tipping with the new person.
I made appointments for us for Monday. Same person will cut my hair and my husband’s. The cost is $21 for his and $35 for mine so $56 total. My hair is really short so there’s no styling, blow dry involved. We’ve already been told the prices.
How much do I tip? It’s seriously been so long since I’ve had to go to someone new that I’m stumped.

As a retired hairdresser no less than 20% EVER!!!!!!!!!

15% - 20% of the cuts is the average. Based on the prices you've stated. $5 for each of you.

No right or wrong amount, tip whatever you are comfortable with and can afford.

20%

20% is appropriate. If you're especially pleased or feeling generous, you can always round it up to the next "0" or "5".

My husband and myself both tip our hair dresser 20%. We use the same one and have for twenty years.
