Re: Hair Cut After 2 and 1/2 Years.

A week ago I cut four inches off the length of my hair.  It's a simple bob now, shoulder length, no bangs, just long enough to put into a pony tail.  This is the second time I've cut it, first time I cut two inches off.  Getting the back cut evenly is my biggest challenge.  I'm on a fixed income and cutting my own hair has saved me a ton of money.

An estimated 700,000 people around the world, 400,000 of them children, have died so far due to the discontinuation of the USAID program.

I reluctantly went to my salon for a hair cut last week.  I made the appointment for a dry cut.  I'm still not comfortable with someone over me shampooing my hair.  Actually it was one of the best cuts I ever had.  I've had only one cut since the pandemic when my stylist cut my hair in her back yard.

@Biftu  That's what I'm going to insist upon next salon cut -- if I'm brave enough that is. (Brave in going to a salon.) It's what I've been doing on myself for 2 years!

Not only that, but I really do not like salon shampoos. My hair felt like straw afterward!

Then again, I'm going to pass on any blow out.

Re: Hair Cut After 2 and 1/2 Years.

I can't go too long without at least having my hair cut and framed around my face.  I always had very thick hair and if I didn't get it cut once a month, it was falling in my face all the time.

No one believes me now when I tell them my hair's getting thinner.  On one side I actually have a small spot that's almost bald. I can cover it so far but I told my dr and her response was, "Oh, that's not unusual for someone in their 60s."  I let it go then but not anymore.

I take levothyroxine, so there is an issue with my thyroid. I'm going to demand 3 thyroid tests next visit.  She does 2 tests and will only do the third if the first 2 come back abnormal, which hasn't happened since starting the med. But obviously SOMEHING is different. I'd like to know what that is.

Re: Hair Cut After 2 and 1/2 Years.

I cut my short hair twice during the lockdown and I think I did a pretty good job.  But since they reopened, it's every 4 weeks to Great Clips for me.  I get my hair cut on the cheap, so I'm fine with going every 4 weeks. I color it myself.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

@Harpa  I hear you, it took a lot for me to work up the nerve to go into the salon.  I felt ok once I was there and I was out pretty quickly.  I didn't have mine blown out either, no need with the dry cut.  Actually at my salon the shampoo is the best.  They really message your head and it feels great, but not doing it now for sure.  Your hair will feel much better with the ends trimmed properly.  Put on your mask and take a deep breath. You'll be in and out in no time.

Re: Hair Cut After 2 and 1/2 Years.

First let me say that my best friend who I vacation with and hang out with has her own salon so this is who does my hair - I used to go ever month to get it colored and cut, but since the pandemic the last time it was really cut was Jan 29, 2020 (so two years tomorrow). Actually going Feb 24th to have hair cut off to donate to CWH (should have at least 10" by then).

Since the pandemic I have also been going about every 8 weeks to get the gray colored, but in Dec we decided to also add a few highlights as my hair has been darkening up as I have gotten older - I was born with dark brunette hair but at 6 weeks had to have my whole head shaved to remove a cyst from top of head, when it came back it was blonde and would normally stay blonde during summer months as I played outside but now just keeps getting darker.

I use CreaClip from Amazon which is fast and fool proof. It seems a bit expensive but pays for itself with two haircuts.

[ Edited ]

If I were younger I could probably deal with 2-1/2 years but not now.  I get a haircut every 7 to 8 weeks.  Wearing your hair in a ponytail all the time caused your hair to break off.  You did a good thing to donate your hair.

Re: Hair Cut After 2 and 1/2 Years.

I have always had very fine hair, As I age, it is getting thinner, especially on top, but Biotin has helped so my scalf doesn't show. I would love to wear it long but it really drags down my face so I keep it chin length.
