Exactly. They've boasted this before...after they hacked government sites in places. What exactly do they think they are going to do now that ISIS has gone off the grid for their latest attack?

I know the "media" has picked up on this like its news but Anonymous has been at this for quite awhile.

Maybe they do not feel it necessary for you to be made aware of what they do?

@Moonchilde wrote:What they need to hack are plots and details, not addresses. If Anonymous actually was able to hack into online "conversations" between terrorists/groups and either post the plans publicly, so that ISIL and others knew they couldn't hide, or turn the info over to various governments, that would be invaluable.

I think we have to stay tuned.
Sometimes, the unconstrained can accomplish much. But they are still loose cannons, so, helpful one day, not so much the next. But I'm certainly not anti-Anon, just cautious about the long run.
I think Anonymous is 'lying with the dogs'....living close to the source.

"Hacker group Anonymous have declared war against ISIS after the attacks in Paris on Friday night.
Posting a video on YouTube, the group said it would use its knowledge to "unite humanity" and warned the terrorists to "expect us".
Behind their signature mask, a spokesperson speaking in French said: "Anonymous from all over the world will hunt you down.
"You should know that we will find you and we will not let you go.
"We will launch the biggest operation ever against you."

@GingerPeach wrote:Update from Newsweek of Anonymous activity since the Charlie Hebdo attack:
Excerpt:
"Anonymous has targeted ISIS for a number of months following the attacks on the Paris offices of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo and its hack of U.S. CENTCOM's Twitter account. The group has uncovered the Twitter accounts of ISIS members and hacked a number of the group's sites.
The hacktivist group has dismantled at least 149 of ISIS’s affiliated websites, flagged approximately 101,000 Twitter accounts and nearly 6,000 propaganda videos, U.S. magazine Foreign Policy estimates."
Another story from another source, Independent (not familiar with this source). Apparently Anonymous has begun leaking details from these accounts:
and @GingerPeach, tahnk you so much for your recent update. It does my heary good to hear this. ![]()

@MyGirlsMom wrote:Anonymous has begun leaking the personal information of suspected extremists, after it "declared war" on Isis in the wake of the deadly attacks in Paris.
The activist collective is assembling lists of the Twitter accounts and websites of extremists, in an attempt to have them taken down. At least one post seen by The Independent contains details including the physical address of a person it claims is an Isis recruiter in Europe.
None of the details that have been shared could be independently confirmed, and Anonymous activists have wrongly identified alleged extremists in the past. But if true the details shared include the physical addresses and names of those the activists claim are involve in recruitment.
@MyGirlsMom, thank you for providing this info as well. ![]()

The Business Insider posted an article about the pros and cons of the Anonymous "war" on ISIS/ISIL. There are concerns about harming intelligence gathering by government agencies yet acknowledgement of potential good if propaganda disruption could be achieved. (I see it as 'birth control' for ISIS.)
Here's an excerpt:
"It's pretty clear that Anonymous is never going to destroy ISIS. But one way the militant Jihadist group has differentiated itself from previous terrorist organisations is its mastery of social media. Many of its members are "digital natives," and know exactly how to get their message out online.
"If Anonymous is able to significantly disrupt these propaganda channels, without harming official intelligence gathering, it could arguably help to disrupt recruitment and online radicalisation efforts. It wouldn't be the death knell, by any means — but it would be arguably somewhat effective."

I love this paragraph from your post:
