I am originally from western Pa., Grove City.  I went to Pitt.  One of the best places for hurricane information is Denis Phillips' facebook page.  He is the meteorologist for the ABC TV station in Tampa.  He used to be my next store neighbor.  He is a straight shooter and has a huge following when it comes to storms.  We had a wonderful sports rivalry as he went to Penn State.  He posts regular updates and has nightly updates at 7 PM on Facebook where he explains everything in great detail.  He also goes county by county so those of us know what to expect.  He is wonderful.  That is how we know to hide from the wind and run from the water.  He also has Rule #7, we don't panic untl he tell us to panic.  He is the calm before the storm.

I'll be following your posts closely @BalletBabe   My DIL is a St Pete native and her mom lives in a retirement village in Largo (same general area as you?) It's zone D so no mandatory evacuation. She's not on the first floor and not on the coast so she doesn't evacuate. But she's  80 years old and so much can go wrong with a storm like this. I'll be praying for you, for her, and for everyone affected by this storm.

@BalletBabe  I'm in Lakeland. You said you're north of Tampa? Where? Thanks for starting this thread. I will also check in through the day. Rain was light a few hours ago. Very heavy now at 10 a.m.

Sarasota here. My house is no evac zone at all, no flood zone but im 2 miles from downtown. Masonry home, so im only worrird about tornadoes and that wind speed ripping my roof off or treesfalling on it. zowie. Im literally going to dig out my bicycle helmet and wear it. Cant hurt to try.

I put my important documents and remote controls in a LocknLock 😁

A good tip i heard was to put pictures and frames and documents in your dishwasher as its waterproof when you lock the door. I dont have a dishwasher but i thought id share.

I also read that my insulin should be good for days as long as ithe insulin doesnt get over 86 degrres. I did not know that. .

Lets hope its a fast mover and gets out quick.

My best to all my Floridians!!

@BalletBabe   That was an excellent idea to start this thread so you and anyone else in the area can give real time updates to keep everyone informed.
