@BalletBabe

I’m sending hopeful wishes to you for safety during this storm.
Hopefully, it will weaken as it hits land and produce less damage. Fingers crossed.

I live in Palm Harbor, FL, in Pinellas County in the Tampa Bay area about 10 minutes north of Clearwater.  We evacuated to our condo in Stuart, FL, on the other coast on Monday.  We have learned that these storms can "wobble" as they get closer to land and even a wobble of 10 or 15 miles makes a huge difference in where it makes landfall.  Hitting Tampa Bay at high tide will be catastrophic.  It isn't just the wind we have to worry about, it is the storm surge.  The lives we lost in the last storm were mostly due to drowning.  We have learned to live by a very simple rule when a hurricane is threatening.  You hide from the wind, but you run from the water.  I am happy to say the people are taking this storm very seriously.  Our "stuff", while painful to lose, can be replaced.  Our lives cannot.  Please, my friends in the path of this storm, stay safe.

@BalletBabe @Pittfanatic @haddon9   Prayers for all.  Thank you for the updates.  My brother and family are 40 miles NW of Orlando, and they are worried.  It sounds like the whole state will have some affects.  Praying for safety!  I am so sorry for the loss some will face.

@Pittfanatic

Thank you for posting about your situation.

Interesting... "you hide from the wind and run from the water"

good to know

as a longtime Texas resident (now living in Pittsburgh)

over the years we lived in TX we did hide from the wind.

Wishing safety and as little damage as possible for you and yours.
