I am from NY and sending thoughts and prayers to all fellow posters + Floridians in Milton’s large path. 🙏
On another note, i just saw a sickening article and short video of a dog about to drown tied to a pole in a field off of I-75 near Bruce B Downs Blvd near Tampa.
I am not a dog owner or lover of dogs, ( I’m afraid of them), but respect and appreciate all dogs + animals. People - this is cruelty. Do not lose your minds during this hurricane and leave helpless animals to suffer.
The video is heartbreaking . Thankfully, A State Police officer viewed dog from highway and rescued it.

@BalletBabe I'm constantly watching The Weather Channel. That is where I will be getting my info.

There is a special circle of Hell for people that do this to a living being.

@KKlim Thankful to hear that dog was saved!!

During Helene a guy figured he would ride the storm out on his sailboat with his golden retriever! Coast Guard was able to rescue them both.

I think the dog should be taken away from him for his selfish stupidity. 🤨 I can almost guarantee that dog was smarter than him! Animals sense a storm coming long before humans.

Relieved about that dear pup.  It's inconceivable that people could do that....   Stay safe, you and your dog, @BalletBabe --  am praying for all in the path.

Off topic, but I wanted to address a few comments from a few threads in weeks past. Some posters expressed, in their own style, that this was a message board of unkind, nasty, unhelpful vipers.

This thread is a testament to the goodness that can be found on this site. There's a camaraderie that unites posters in their universal concern for the safety and wellness of those affected by circumstances and uncertainty. You see that happen often in many threads. This thread puts a spotlight on that. There's a genuine concern for all living creatures in the path of the storm. And it's a community of strangers attempting to offer whatever comfort they can.

I think it's a good message board to be part of.

Tampa General Hospital sits on the northern tip of Davis Islands.  It is the region's only Level 1 Trauma Center.  It has an AquaFence barrier that can withstand up to a 15 foot storm surge.  It is pretty well protected.  So far, it has not had any storm damage.

On Youtube,  search for "Ryan Hall y'all" and click on the live.   Excellent live coverage with a group of meteorologists and live radar and cams.   Very thorough coverage of whats going on and all the tornado warnings.
