HSN-selling cars and insurance

I can't believe that they are branching out into this....not sure what to think of it. I guess it's a new way for companies to branch out and try selling on TV.....might be cheaper than traditional TV commercials. I wouldn't mind seeing them add vacation packages on the Q or HSN on easy pay or flex pay. That would appeal to me.

I got an email about the insurance a about ten days ago and was intrigued because my dad owns his own agency so I clicked on info. Today after AM style I just changed the channel to see what was on HSN and they are presenting FORD info package but they have a FOCUS they are presenting.

Oh My Goodness! I can't imagine buying a vehicle or insurance in that manner.

It's more like an infomercial....featuring 3 cars....you call in and get info packet mailed to you...includes $2100 rebate and free maintenance program...rebate good until January. The medical insurance intrigued me because I thought it was genius to use a call center to get leads for people shopping insurance premiums....but that's only because everyone in my family sells insurance. It's just different and I wonder if it's working.

I recall QVC tried to sell cars - but not insurance - years ago when the smart cars first were introduced. It did not last long.

I think QVC sold cars once years ago - unless it was HSN and they're doing it again; forgot the brand.

I went to HSN's site and typed insurance in the search box - they did not show anything available.

That's what immediately came to mind. Anyone responding will be bombarded with sales calls. I wonder what your folks think about it.
