Today they presented Affy Tapple Apples, all in caramel with different decor on them, 8 pack with gift boxes for 29.95 free ship. They looked delish and looked large but they never said which kind of apple is used or the size of the apples and I couldnt find the info on the website.  Also had large choc covered pretzels.

@Shelbelle  - Affy Tapple Apples has its own website with a lot of information.  (affytappleDOTcom)

As to the apples used:

"What types of apples do you use for your Caramel Apples?

We use a variety of apples for our Affy Tapple Caramel Apples, primarily Empire, Jonathon, Granny Smith, and Gala. However, because this year has brought unique challenges to sourcing our apples, we’ve also introduced Red Delicious and Golden Delicious to our lineup. Since we ultimately use a mixture of apple varieties, there is no way to tell which kind has been used for your Caramel Apple; but we assure you that it will be delicious because we take great care to select the finest and freshest produce."

I also much prefer Gr Smith, that is all I buy from the supermarket. So, from what their website says they use so many different varieties, they probably cant say on HSN which ones you will get if ordered.

I grew up eating Affy Tapples. They were delicious back then.

Re: HSN's Answer to Prindables

I also grew up on Affy Tapples, a Chicago original!  Way back in the 60's we'd have Affy Tapple Day at my elementary school - an annual school fundraiser.  I think all the schools in the public school system participated. My mom would give me some change and a paper sack and I'd be able to buy an apple for everyone in my family. They were a smaller modest sized apple, nowhere near the size of a Mrs. Prindable, but they were the best and quite a treat!

They may be good but they don't have Laurie Shore!

Re: HSN's Answer to Prindables

I prefer to make my own apples and pretzels.  I don't like the extra toppings used or Granny Smith apples.

I like caramel, chocolate  and nuts....No sprinkles, jimmies or white chocolate chips.

I don't make the apples often, but I make about 50 gift bags of pretzels with three different topping flavors of pretzels...chocolate and caramel. I give them away at Christmas and Easter time.
