Sorry, I should have specified free exchange in my title, and will change it. Not many retailers have unlimited free returns.

@Effie54 - I seldom shop with HSN now, but I've also had problems in the past, being charged return shipping for defective items.
I finally contacted them one time about it and was told that you have to contact them before returning the item, so that it will be noted on your account. The CS rep I spoke to said the warehouse staff don't know not to deduct the return and/or original shipping from your refund, even though you tick the "Defective" box on the return slip.
That doesn't make any sense to me at all, but I told the rep that it would've been nice to know that in advance. I couldn't find that anywhere on their website and just ate the return shipping cost.

This! Their exchange policy is so easy and uncomplicated! You can also call and tell the CS rep that you want to exchange. She will check their system to make sure what you want is in stock and get it mailed to you free of charge. Then all you have to do is return the item you want to exchange. You'll get your new item in about a week or so. It is my understanding that you have 30 days from the time of receipt to return the one you don't want, but I could be wrong about that, as I return it right away. I've done the online process as @Tinkrbl44 explained but also called. I had to call when I first got an item, tried it on, and saw right away that I needed a bigger size. Because I had just gotten the item, the exchange option wasn't showing online yet, so I had to call. Both methods work great!

I'm with you! I know some on here love HSN and don't have complications with their return policy. However I, like you, had a defective item and they wouldn't give me the shipping back. They asked me the tracking number (if you don't have it, you won't get the money back....that's what I was told). The CS rep I spoke with was rude and abrupt. So it's a big no for me.

What concerned me is there was no Exchange option listed next to the boots.
I called and they did the exchange thing and I'm sending them back.
** For anyone who was considering a Bearpaw boot purchase ----- I chose these because the bottom is a more bendable rubber, NOT the hard material that takes forever to relax.

@Tinkrbl44 After I read your post I went to my hsn order history. and I also see that there are some items that aren't showing the exchange button as an option and I have no idea why that would be! They are not sold out items, so it's a mystery.
Glad you were able to arrange for your exchange by phone. Chat is also always very helpful.

I wanted to add that I really love the way hsn handles exchanges. They send the new item right out and allow you some time to return the original. A+

@Effie54 I've never paid to return a defective product or exchange. I always call and talk to CS when I need to return for exchange or refund. I love HSN CS. QVC CS is good, too.

Returns and exchanges can be a bit confusing because HSN wants us to call about them but QVC prefers we just check the right box on the return slip. I always call CS for both of them.

QVC is the worst, I have sent several things back and asked for new size and never got even though it was in stock - contacted QVC easy returns and after a week someone finally called me but by then the colors/size I needed were gone.
