Is this happening with the HSN cc, HSN Mastercard, or BOTH???

I think it's both cards @IlliniGirl88

@SilleeMee @IlliniGirl88 @eddyandme@Ibby114It's the HSN Mastercard.

I have the regular HSN store card. I just checked my July statement. I did not get charged any interest. Aug statement won't be available until tomorrow or Fri so I will be checking it out. Mine shows 0 interest paid in 2017. If you were charged interest in July it must have been from an outstanding balance.

@Nightowlz, you might want to read page 3 of this thread. @elated posted a copy of page 2 of the HSN M/C whih took effect in July.  Other posters having the HSN store card say same applies.

I called Commenity CS and found out the following information. Interest fees will be charged on HSN Card and the HSN Mastercard.  I hope I am going to explain it to you correctly but here it goes. If you bought an item for $200.00 (flex payment $50.00) before your statement closed and paid for that flex pay in full and then bought another item after the statement closed for a flex pay of $45.00 you need to include that in your payment. If you don't you will be charged interest fees on that item. In other words, as long as you owe them money using their credit cards, you will accrue interest charges.

I have never heard of this way of doing business. It would be like if I bought something at Macy's and paid for that item in full that my statement required and them bought another item after the closing date I would need to include that amount into my payment or accrue interest charges.

I paid my account off in full and will not be doing business with HSN. That's another shopping channel that has bit the dust. I don't shop on Evine due to their s&h policies and their refunds. The only shopping channel that I will continue to do business with is QVC.

I have empathy for customers that do not understand their change in policy. Some will not even question this change and continue to pay their bills. When I challenged the Commenity CS and told her this change was just beyond the scope of reality. She seemed to get upset and told me they were not breaking laws.

To me this seems like a bait and switch. If you shop with HSN, use your own credit or debit card. They are squeezing the customers that use flex pay to stay within their budget. My only hope is that they lose business by this new policy.

@elated I checked my July statement & no interest. If there is any interest on my Aug statement I will tell them where they can put their card. I will make all e-z pays post now so I can pay off my balance & close the account. I will pay cash before I pay interest. I will still shop at HSN because I buy a lot of Andrew Lessman. I can use a different card or just not use ez-pay.

When I receive a credit card statement, there are several payments that can be made.  One is the minimum payment, one is the statement balance and one is the current balance. The current balance would include any charges made since the statement date.

What I'm gathering is that in order to avoid interest, you need to pay the current balance, not the statement balance.  If you only pay the statement balance, you will incur interest on the charges made since your statement.

But current balance can change daily. So, if you pay the current balance today, and then tomorrow another flex pay is posted to the account, you have the same isdue....interest will added.

@nomlessYou're right about that. Flex pays with the hsn card are a racket! Has anyone seen if the hosts have changed their pitch?

@Ibby114 I just turned on the TV. She just said 5 flexpays but did not say interest free.

Flexpays/easy pays will affect your credit.  Your credit is pulled and FICO score calculated based on what is currently on your credit cards, installment loans, etc.  So if you charge everything for the month on one card, even though you pay that off every month, your FICO score will be affected because the balance on your card could be high.

If you do any of the same as cash deals offered on cards, that definitely affects your credit score/rating.  The entire balance owed shows on the credit card and then you just make monthly payments with no interest and it has to be paid off within the allotted time or interest will be charged.

Another thing I'm not sure people know or not, if you buy something on say 9 months same as cash, if you do not pay the balance in full within 9 months, many cards charge interest on the original amount charged, not just the balance owed at the time the promotion is up.

@Lipstickdiva I know how that works. When I use it I always make sure what I purchased is paid well before the balance is due. When we bought our sleep # bed at Q we were not charged one of the payments on the monthly statements but was posted after the close date which would have made it pay off after the balance would be due in full. I made the payment that month anyways. I also paid off before due. I'm not paying interest. LOL!!!

@eddyandme I just finished reading all posts. Hard to believe they are doing this. Better not be any interest on my Aug statement tomorrow or Fri when it's posted. I will pay the balance less the interest & call to tell them what they can do with it. I will have to transfer the rest of my flexpay to my Visa to pay the balance. I will be closing the HSN card if this is the case. I pay my balance in full each month. I check my statement online after they post them. If they run charges thru after that they need to send me another statement showing this also needs to be paid to avoid interest. Makes no sense. Comenity will lose many customers. I feel sorry for all the people that won't even realize or just pay because it's on their bill.

@eddyandme@Lipstickdiva@Ibby114@SilleeMee@elated@IlliniGirl88 This is on the Comenity Bank website.

*HSN does not assess interest charges or fees on FlexPay. However, use of a credit card for FlexPay options may result in interest charges in accordance with the normal terms and conditions of your individual credit card agreements. FlexPay is a payment option offered by HSN. FlexPay is available on all credit card pay types as well as PayPal accounts. FlexPay Eligibility Specialists can be reached at 1-800-404-8533.

What should I do if I have a FlexPay question?

Take your pick from these options:

@Nightowlz, imo as long as you have flex-pay on your HSN card, you'd have a better chance of winning the lottery than always avoiding interest charges.Woman Frustrated To me this is bad business practice on the part of HSN and Comenity Bank.

And, I have always thought they were a trustworthy, dependable company!  Ya think the new CEO/management team effected this? It's gonna backfire! KARMA.....

@eddyandme @Ibby114 I have the HSN store card & I Did Not get charged any interest on my July statement. Aug has not posted yet so will have to wait until tomorrow or Fri to check it. I pay my balance in full each month. I do use ez-pay. Mine shows 0 interest for 2017.

Same here. Have the HSN card, pay the balance in full every month, have ez-pays, O interest for 2017.

@eddyandme Just went to check my Aug statement & it's not posted yet. I guess the close date is today so I will be lucky if it's up tomorrow. May have to wait until Mon.
